Felix is a flea who has been adopted by rhinoceros beetles and therefore believes himself to be one. When his village is attacked by an army of stag beetles, Felix finally gets the chance to prove himself. He sets off in search of the legendary beetle queen, who is supposed to bring peace, and finds himself in the course of his journey.
